Description

Yorkton Tribal Council is seeking 1 individual for the contract position of In-House Counsellor for Project Safe Haven.Duties are:
Apply various counseling practice and principles
Assist and support staff to observe and assess clients social/physical/mental& emotional states
Provide client and family counseling & supportive therap.Maintain current records and confidential reports regarding clients.Liaison with First Nation Rural/Urban Agencies
Provide domestic violence training
Make necessary referrals to service organizations
Assist clients with arranging appointments etc.
Answer crisis calls/distress calls
Observe and assess client social/physical/mental & emotional state of health
Advocate on behalf of clients
Facilitating workshops & providing knowledge, prevention strategies and community development techniques to First Nations youth/adults
Qualifications:
Have a Bachelor of Social Work/Bachelor of Indian Social Work. Be willing to upgrade skills and take training annually to meet Social Work counseling requirements of the Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers.
Have a minimum of 3 years experience in managing counseling/addictions programs supported by the knowledge and understanding of First Nations language, culture, traditions and social issues.
Be willing to travel/possess a valid drivers license as well as maintain & reliable vehicle, and must submit a current CPIC
Manage a number of people/priorities & projects
The environment requires excellent organizational/time management & stress management skills
