The Distance Education Instructor Aide will work in a learning centre environment to provide adults registered in distance education modes of post-secondary subjects with educational support. This support will include assisting students with all their learning needs, promoting a positive learning environment, monitoring a computer lab, maintaining building and equipment security, promoting distance education learning skills, promoting distance education opportunities, and working as part of a team dedicated to increasing student retention and success, as well as other duties as assigned.
Additional duties include classroom management; taking attendance and submitting on a regular basis; monitoring student progress and submitting on a regular basis; and other duties as assigned.
The minimal qualifications for this position are a relevant two year post-secondary diploma, however applicants with a relevant University degree will be given preference; strong computer skills; recent/relevant experience in distance education; strong communication and interpersonal skills; and experience working with adults in a cross-cultural learning environment is an asset. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
