OKC is accepting applications for a Field Technologist based on site in Northern Saskatchewan. This position is an 8-month contract position beginning April 1st, 2018 and ending November 30th, 2018 with a 2 week on 2 week off rotation. Should the candidate have a successful first season, there is potential for the position to continue for 4 field seasons. Candidates must embody OKCs Core Vision (Solving Tomorrows Problems Today in Optimized Mine Waste Management) and Values: Passionate, Smart and Clever, Positive, Thoughtful and Caring, and Humble.
Responsibilities of the Field Technologist role include, but are not limited to, the following:
Daily inspection and reporting of construction works.
Perform various material testing to ensure technical specifications are being met.
Client / Contractor Communication.
Complete field investigations such as test pitting or drilling programs and visual inspections.
Update and maintain databases.
Demonstrate care about the wellbeing of yourself and others, through actively participating in OHS activities and meeting all safety requirements.
Candidates will ideally possess the following key qualifications, experience, skills, and qualities:
Relevant Technologist or Technician Designation (A.Sc.T. or C.E.T. an asset but not required).
3-5 Years Experience in earthworks construction and material testing.
Survey experience is an asset but is not required.
Ability to interpret engineering design documents.
Excellent communication skills.
Strong skills in the areas of time management, planning and organizing.
An ability and willingness to communicate with third parties including clients, contractors etc.
