Under the general supervision of the Director of Flight Operations, this position encompasses the investigation and processing of flight operations related safety management reports.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Investigation (which may include interviews and research), documentation, and recommendations of all flight operations related SMS reports. This will include updating the incident reporter with the root cause, and draft corrective action plans. As a result of the SMS investigation, development of policy, procedures and training programs may be necessary.
Approval of the corrective action plans will result from a collaborative approach with the DFO and it may require the development of processes, procedures, and related training.
Support supervisors and managers in their investigation of hazards, incidents, accidents, occurrences, and make recommendations.
Monitor the progress of investigations, corrective actions, follow ups and communications, and report overdue actions or delinquencies to the Director of Flight Operations and SMS manager.
Research regulations, standards (aviation and OH&S) and circulars to ensure the company is following current regulator industry standards
Participate in regular meetings to close SMS reports, identify trends, and set priorities for safety.
Participate in safety case assessments as required
Other SMS duties are assigned by the DFO
