Under the direction of the Fleet Services Supervisor, this position is responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of the shop floor including the supervision of personnel and various hands-on tasks in the maintenance and operation of the City's fleet and equipment.
This position will perform the following duties:
- Co-ordinate and/or perform the predictive and preventative maintenance and production schedules of all fleet vehicles and equipment
- Ensure that scheduled preventative maintenance and logging of equipment with fleet services staff and contractors
- Troubleshoot, report and/or co-ordinate the daily repairs
- Ensure all staffing requirements are maintained and supported
- Ensure time cards, daily gang reports, work orders, reports and records on staff and activities are completed accurately and timely
- Advise and train staff on safe and proper working procedures and practices
- Investigate complaints and problems
- Perform a variety of skilled and manual tasks including equipment maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical issues, general repairs and working space upkeep
- Assist in the preparation of necessary budget information and monitor expenditures
- Working within the City's Purchasing Policy and with supplies to order parts and materials
- Available 24/7 for after hours on-call rotation, able to lift up to 50 lbs and work both indoors and outdoors
Qualified candidates will possess:
- Completion of Grade 12
- Journeyman AST with proven Heavy Equipment experience
- Fireman's Certificate
- Valid Class 3-A driver's license
- 6 years' mechanical experience with a minimum of 2 years supervisory experience
- Thorough knowledge of equipment repair and maintenance including power train, electrical, HVAC, suspension and brakes
- Certified in WHIMIS
- Forklift Certified Operator
- Ability to lead, organize and direct activities of employees
