Description

PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Utilities Engineer performs technical support tasks related to the operation of the refinerys utility systems. This includes monitoring unit operations, providing technical assistance and direction to Process Operators, communicating with other departments on operational changes and coordinating with maintenance to ensure safe and reliable operation of the refinerys raw water, demineralization, cooling water, wastewater, fuel and steam systems. 24-hour availability for technical consultation and to assist with operational issues may be required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- effectively monitoring, advising, and directing the operation of assigned units;
- acting in a technical advisory capacity, consulting regularly on unit specific issues with process licensors and suppliers;
- troubleshooting and optimizing assigned process units to ensure safe and efficient operation;
- coordinating with Engineering, Maintenance, and Inspection on issues and repairs in the units;
- initiating, justifying, and following up on work orders and capital projects within assigned units; providing technical input as required; preparing shutdown and start up orders and timelines for upcoming Turnarounds;
- assisting Yield Accounting to ensure that unit mass balances are reviewed and adjusted as required and assists in preparing the unit expense budgets.

QUALIFICATIONS
The qualifications required by this position will be gained through a degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering. Membership in the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS) as a Professional Engineer OR eligibility as an Engineer in Training (EIT) is required.
