Responsibilities:
Manage the Gun Counter, Hunting, Archery, Optics, and Fishing departments;
Ensure departments comply with all merchandising guidelines set by company policy;
Carry out merchandising planograms, monitor stock levels, and prepare for advertisements, flyers, seasonal items and/or promotions;
Deal with any customer, employee, or store related issues;
Interview and hire qualified employees, coordinate new hire training, and supervise staff on a daily basis;
Train employees on legendary customer service and build customer loyalty;
Coach and develop department leads and associates by conducting performance reviews, documenting performance issues, and performing disciplinary action when necessary;
Create weekly schedules and maintain payroll accuracy in accordance with time and labour budgets;
Communicate with employees in an effective and efficient manner and to facilitate morning and evening rally meetings to keep employees informed on in-store events;
Perform store opening, closing and the End of Day e-mail report and cash out;
Track sales and customer statistics, identify opportunities for improvements;
Have a basic knowledge of products that Cabela's carries, assist customers on the floor during peak sales periods providing a positive influence on leads and sales associates, and mentor associates on sales presentations and product applications.
Qualifications:
Two or more years retail management experience;
Knowledge and experience in sporting goods with a focus on technical outdoor products including Archery, Hunting, Firearms and Fishing;
Firearms Possession and Acquisition License is required;
Good interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing;
Proficient in office software packages (word processing, spreadsheets, Internet, e-mail, etc.) MS Office preferred and;
Proven ability to work in a dynamic, continuous improvement environment.
