Description

This position supports the WSAs strategic direction and the effective operation of its work units through the planning, development, and implementation of best-practice for the full range of human resources policies, processes, systems, and services. Leads a five person team of HR and payroll professionals in providing valued advice and support to management and employees with respect to day-to-day operational HR issues, and in the planning and implementation of HR related projects and initiatives including collective bargaining. Reports to the Vice President Corporate Services and is a member of senior management.

You are a seasoned HR generalist with demonstrated expertise in at least two HR areas of competency. You possess the qualities needed to communicate with, and influence, executive and senior management, line managers and supervisors, work units and employees, the union representing in scope staff, and other stakeholders. You also:
    Possess a track record for sound judgment and decision-making that garner respect and create results.
    Understand how to work with and through others, and provide leadership in building teams.
    Value the synergies created from integrative and collaborative efforts with others.
    Can plan and juggle multiple projects with changing, and sometimes conflicting, priorities.
    Are experienced in managing the operational, financial, staffing and administrative aspects of an HR department.
    Can ensure compliance with policies, procedures and legislation.
    Understand how to develop and submit accurate and effective reports and records.

You possess a relevant undergraduate degree and a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation. You have a minimum 15 years of progressively more responsible, directly related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
