Description

The Short Order Cook is responsible for preparing menu items within the casino, ensuring quality, timing, consistency and portion control, and contributes to the overall cleanliness and effectiveness of the kitchen operation. The position must ensure safe food handling practices and procedures are applied. The Short Order Cook washes dishes, places clean items in storage areas, and removes trash along with completing assigned paperwork. The position acts as a representative of SaskGaming by engaging guests as per service standards. The Cook reports to the Operational Shift Manager.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have a minimum Grade 10 education and one (1) year experience in a high volume restaurant or hotel kitchen.

Competencies:
Using a variety of assessment tools such as in-person interviews, and written examinations, candidates will be assessed against the following competencies:
** Knowledge of and ability to understand and adhere to guest service standards.
** Knowledge of standards, practises and procedures related to food preparation, and handling, following recipes and operation of kitchen equipment.
** Ability to perform moderately complex mathematical calculations.
** Able to read, interpret, and apply information.
** Skill in communicating effectively, courteously and respectfully.
** Able to think quickly and logically, demonstrating sound judgement and problem solving skills.
** Able to provide assistance and guidance to others.
** Skill in the use of equipment and/or tools with relatively sophisticated set up and control features.
** Able to demonstrate and adhere to principles of teamwork.

Conditions of Employment:
All applicants must be at least 19 years of age to apply. You must be able to obtain and maintain a Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority - Gaming Employee Certificate of Registration. You must be willing to work different shifts which include evenings, nights and weekends.
