Reporting to the Language Services Manager, the ESL Team Lead oversees the instructional team to ensure high quality language teaching and improved standards of learning across the department.Specifically the team lead will;
-Provide ongoing support to LINC instructors, substitutes, and volunteers; advises instructional team on emerging issues.
-Work closely with the PBLA Lead Teacher to ensure that instructors are meeting PBLA requirements in the classroom and students' portfolios reflect PBLA learning.
-Conducts regular ESL meetings, monitors level-alike group meetings and instructor reports.
-Assists in the coordination of professional development activities for instructors and other learning activities for students when needed.
-Assists in the preparation of proposals and other program initiatives.
-Administers teachers timesheets, leave requests, and student surveys.
-Responds to practicum requests, and works with instructors to place practicum students.
-Ensures that equipment and resources are in place to support language learning, including the purchase of resources, overseeing computer and tablet operations, and the maintenance of the ESL page on the GGP website.
-Coordinates administrative volunteer activities at the English Language Centre.
-Assumes management of the English Language Centre and attends meetings (LARC, SASIA, etc.) in place of the Language Services Manager, if needed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE:
- University Degree
- TESL Canada certification is an asset
- 2-5 years of experience
- Flexible, well-organized, able to work well under pressure
- Excellent oral and written language skills
- Strong computer proficiency with ability to easily learn new software programs
- Passionate about people, service and continuous improvement.
- The ability to speak another language is an asset.
