Description

Reporting to the General Manager, Corporate Performance, the Director, Human Resources leads a division of more than 50 staff. The Director provides strategic leadership, development, direction and support to the HR division in all human resources matters, including collective bargaining with the Citys labour associations. As the leader of one of the Citys most important support function, the Director collaborates with business unit leaders throughout the organization around all HR matters. Strengthening overall employee culture and driving change initiatives to meet organizational goals is also an important part of the Directors responsibilities.

The Ideal Candidate:

10+ years in a senior leadership role within Human Resources.
A Masters degree in a related discipline is preferred, or an equivalent combination of experience and education. A CHRP designation is an asset.
Prior experience in a complex public sector environment is an asset.
Understanding of the public sector budgeting processes is an asset.
Demonstrated record of successfully developing and executing strategic human resources plans.
Excellent leadership, communication, decision making, problem solving, conflict resolution and planning skills.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective and positive working relationships with all levels of civic staff, elected officials, unions, government agencies, media and the public.
