Job Description: Reporting to the Manager of Nursing, the flight nurse functions as a member of an integrated health care team to provide and direct/coordinate advanced nursing services to patients who, by the nature of their illness and /or location, require air medical transport.  These functions, as defined in the parameters established by the Saskatchewan Air Ambulance Program, include but are not limited to: triage, prioritization and coordination of incoming requests for patient transport; assessment, stabilization and management of specified patient illnesses or injuries prior to and during transport; requesting, performing and interpretation of diagnostic and radiological tests; initiating, titrating and monitoring medications in accordance with clinical protocols; initiation of invasive or non-invasive mechanical ventilation as per clinical protocols; performing invasive and surgical interventions as per clinical protocols with medical directives.  Flight nursing interventions will require extended nursing practice in assessment and therapeutic management of specified illnesses and/or injuries, often without available direct physician supervision and/or medical control during the transfer process.
Required Qualifications

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Bachelor Degree/Diploma in Nursing
Basic Critical Care Nursing Advanced Certificate or equivalent
CAMATA Air Medical Training Program Level 1 or equivalent
Extended Role Transport Training Program
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
Registered or eligible for registration with the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses Association (SRNA)
Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
Experience
