SED Research is looking for a Jr. Mechanical Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team to assist with engineering efforts in converting prototype designs into production ready designs.
SED Research specializes in material research and prototyping for the satellite communications industry. The company is an offshoot of SED Systems which has worked in the industry for over 52 years. SED Research operates out of a new-built facility in the north industrial area.
The Position:
The successful applicant will be responsible for the analysis of multi-component systems and structural CAD drawings for composite componentry. The position requires use of analytical methods, finite element models/simulations, and other analysis tools to produce models, perform analysis, calculations, data reduction, and correlate test results for structures and/or structural dynamics. This analysis will include detailed stress analyses utilizing standard industry programs. Engineers work in a team environment to design and analyze structural systems and support loads analysis.
The Person:
This position will be of interest to candidates with:
-A 4 yr degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline;
-Comfortable in a dynamic environment and ability to troubleshoot problems in design and manufacturing;
-Able to work in both the design and the manufacturing facility including hands-on work;
-Able to problem solve and be able to clearly articulate design solutions;
-Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA), CAD Software, metallic and composite materials, and Siemens NX software environment is considered an asset; and,
-Willingness to travel.
The ability to obtain a Secret security clearance and meet the eligibility requirements outlined in the Canadian Controlled Goods Program is mandatory.
