SED Research is looking for a Mechanical Technologist to join our multidisciplinary team to assist with engineering efforts in converting prototype designs into production ready designs.

SED Research specializes in material research and prototyping for the satellite communications industry. The company is an offshoot of SED Systems which has worked in the industry for over 52 years. SED Research operates out of a new-built facility in the north industrial area. The Position:

The successful applicant will be responsible for the generation of 2D engineering and manufacturing drawings, instructions, and the modelling of composite plies and flat patterns for manufacturing and design evaluation. The position requires the usage of software tools and working in the manufacturing facility. The successful applicant will work in a team environment composed of technical and manufacturing personnel.

The Person:

This position will be of interest to candidates with:

-A two-year diploma in Mechanical Engineering, CAD/CAM Engineering, Engineering Design and Drafting Technology, or related discipline;
-Experience with both metallic and composite materials and manufacturing is considered an asset;
-Experience with GD&T specifications is considered an asset; and
-Experience with mesh generation for Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is considered an asset.

The ability to obtain a Secret security clearance and meet the eligibility requirements outlined in the Canadian Controlled Goods Program is mandatory.
