On behalf of our client, a well-respected Saskatoon based Bio Sciences company, we are looking for an Accounting Technician to join their team on a full time temporary basis.
At this stage our client does have immediate short term needs; however, if the candidate has strong skills and is a good fit, then this position will evolve into a permanent full time position.
The Position
The core aspects of this position include processing of accounts payable, employee expenses and the collection and input of payroll data. Initially, a heavy focus will be on payroll as we are looking to overhaul our payroll to a more automated system. Other equally important aspects are assisting the Accounting Manager to prepare and process month end transactions to facilitate financial reporting.
In the longer term, this position presents the opportunity for growth and development. A desire and aptitude to undertake a broader scope of accounting responsibilities is a must.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, input and submit bi-weekly payroll
Complete manual calculations and adjustments for payroll entries as needed
Review of time entry for accuracy and appropriate follow up with managers
Enter invoices into the A/P coding system and prepare vendor payments
Prepare payment on employee expense accounts and maintain verifying documentation
Assist with reconciliation of various accounts as assigned
Respond to enquiries from vendors and internal clients, providing timely follow up
    Other responsibilities as assigned
Required Skills
Certificate or Diploma in Accounting, or equivalent combination of education and experience
2 - 3 years payroll experience. Canadian Payroll Association certification an asset.
Previous experience with ADP (Pay@Work) and/or Ceridian Dayforce would be valuable
Working knowledge of financial statements, General Ledgers, and account reconciliations
Experience with ERP systems is an asset
