The Family Support Services Program is a home-based service focusing on the healthy development of families and children. Offered in partnership with the Ministry of Social Services, the priority of the program is to ensure the safety of children. The goal is to maintain the family unity or support the healthy reunification of children with their families, whenever it is possible, and only when it is safe. Support services concentrate on parenting, daily living skills, personal wellness and community resources.
Position & Duties:
- Develop relationships with families to meet their specific individual needs.
- Assist families to access early intervention services to support the healthy development of their children and the family.
- Provide services, support, and intervention in response to the needs of families as identified through the screening and assessment of the families served.
- Collaborate with professionals at other agencies to provide appropriate and comprehensive services to families.
- Maintain written files and documentation in accordance with the criteria outlines.
Preferred Qualification: Applicants should demonstrate a belief in the integrity of the family unit and in the right of children to have a safe, nurturing home; have knowledge of child development, parent-child relationships, family dynamics, parenting skills, and Aboriginal cultures; exhibit strong communication skills; an awareness of community resources; and posses a certificate of diploma in Early Childhood Education, Youth Care work, or a related area. Salary will be commensurate with education, training and experience.
