The Organization
The Saskatchewan Human Rights Commission has a mandate to protect and promote human rights in Saskatchewan and work toward the elimination of discrimination. The Position
The successful candidate will be an energetic and confident person with superior analytical, problem-solving and communication skills. Experience with restorative justice and the evaluation of legal disputes will allow the lawyer to assist in the resolution of complaints. The successful candidate will provide advice and guidance to Commission staff on issues which arise during the intake, investigation, mediation, and systemic initiative functions of the Commission. Legal research and writing will be part of the role.
Candidates will be qualified for membership in the Law Society of Saskatchewan and have a minimum of five years of experience in active legal practice, including litigation and alternative dispute resolution. You will have a demonstrated knowledge and understanding of The Saskatchewan Human Rights Code and Regulations, the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, constitutional law, administrative law, labour law, and employment law. You will be a team player with excellent communication, legal drafting and writing skills, and be able to manage a challenging case load with minimal supervision.
