Job Description: Reporting to the Director (and working closely with a multidisciplinary team), the Manager of Environmental Health is accountable for developing, implementing, and evaluating environmental health policy and programs. The Manager will address program areas such as community planning and design, industrial land use, on-site and community sewage treatment, waste management, air quality, recreational facilities, licensed accommodation, public eating establishments and housing in northern Saskatchewan for Saskatchewan Health Authority and Athabasca Health Authority. This position assists with reducing the incidence of preventable disease, injury, and other health hazards and optimizing health and social wellbeing associated with the environment. The Manager supports the development of healthy public policy and community strategies through consultation and collaboration with local and regional governments and non-governmental organizations. The position is responsible for financial and human resource risk management, quality improvement and employee and client safety, with a staff complement of five public health inspectors. The Manager supports a collaborative approach towards excellence in service delivery, in accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values of the Population Health Unit.
To qualify, you will possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
Bachelors degree in sciences (e.g., Environmental Health)
CPHI(C) designation granted by Board of Certification of the Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors (CIPHI)
At least 5 years experience in public health inspection, preferably with two years of human service management.
