Saskatchewan Health Authority Yorkton, Saskatchewan, requires a General Psychiatrist with certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in psychiatry. Applicants with other approved qualifications [examples: MRCPsych (UK), FCPsych (SA), FRANZCP or Board Certification in US (ABPN)] and with the confirmation of eligibility to write the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada examinations will be considered. Applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan to practice as a specialist psychiatrist and maintain membership and insurance with the Canadian Medical Protective Association. The successful candidate must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
Position Summary and Geographic Information:
A .4 position is currently vacant for a General Psychiatrist. This position provides an opportunity to work in a broad clinical population within a multi-disciplinary team of health professionals providing care to individuals and families of all ages. This part time position is part of four permanent, full-time equivalent positions and works out of the Yorkton Mental Health Centre which provides services to a 15 bed Mental Health In-patient unit, a day program and Community based programming. Service is also provided to rural facilities within the South East area. On-call coverage of generally a 1 in 4 rotation is required. This position will be accountable to the Chief of Psychiatry and South East Area Chiefs of Staff within the framework of the Saskatchewan Health Authority Practitioners Staff Bylaws. The successful applicant will demonstrate the ability to function in the roles of a specialist physician as outlined in the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canadas CanMEDS framework (Medical Expert, Communicator, Collaborator, Leader, Health Advocate, Scholar and Professional).
