Estevan Mercury Publications is seeking a diligent, versatile reporter to work for our two award-winning weekly newspapers in Estevan, Saskatchewan.
We are looking for a reporter who will cover local events in our community, and write human interest stories pertaining to the Estevan area. The successful applicant will find stories to write and accept assignments from the editor. This includes court and the police beat.
We expect the reporter to write 10 to 15 stories per week between the two papers, take photos and write for special advertising features.
The successful applicant will be responsible for posting local editorial copy and photos on our website, www.estevanmercury.ca, and Facebook, and to take responsibility for the podcasts that are uploaded to our website.
Estevan has many stories to report on throughout the year in education, healthcare, politics, law enforcement, arts and culture, agriculture, sports and other beats.
Not only will this person have interviewing and writing skills, but photography skills are a must. Also beneficial will be an interest in sports, and a willingness to use various social media platforms.
We also have a podcast that is recorded in our office on a regular basis.
Estevan Mercury Publications is owned by the Glacier Media Corp., and is part of the Prairie Newspaper Group.

Qualifications:
- A post-secondary journalism diploma or degree (or equivalent);
- Experience in print journalism;
- Knowledge of CP style;
- A valid drivers licence and access to a reliable vehicle;
- Availability to work on evenings and weekends.
