Key Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the NCO i/c Professional Standards, provides administrative support by preparing correspondence, transcribing video-recorded interviews and maintaining confidential files and documents.
(1) Assists Investigators in maintaining deadlines, monitoring bring forward files, preparing internal/external correspondence, updating project calendars on system, recording status of files and notifying subjects of status of investigation.
(2) Maintains and updates database on IEIS.
(3) Transcribes interviews, types notices and investigative reports and legal documents associated with investigations.
(4) Organizes and maintains the filing system (reports, discs, etc.) and summarizes data for monthly and annual reports.
(5) Answers calls from the general public, other members of the Regina Police Service, the provincial government, complaint investigators and other agencies.
(6) Compiles stats for monthly reports to the Board of Police Commissioners and prepares annual reports.
(7) May be required to gather information for use by investigators from IEIS, CPIC, CAD, etc.
(8) Other related duties as required.
Competencies:
(1) Minimum typing speed of 50 w.p.m. and the ability to utilize transcribing equipment.
(2) Ability to maintain confidentiality of highly sensitive material and work in a closed team environment.
(3) Good knowledge of Microsoft Word and some knowledge of databases (e.g., IEIS, Excel).
(4) Ability to work independently, priorize workload and manage a front-end office environment.
(5) Ability to deal with others in a friendly, efficient and professional manner.
(6) May be required to work on a call-in basis as required.
(7) Some knowledge of IEIS, CPIC, CARM and/or CAD, an asset.
(8) Complete Grade XII or Grade XII equivalent. Office Education certificate or equivalent.
