Description

The City of Prince Albert invites applications for the permanent position of Engineering Technician III in the Public Works Department.

An employee in this position is required to assist the planning and engineering staff of the department. This role will lead and train the survey technical staff.

The City of Prince Albert offers a defined benefit pension plan as well as competitive group benefit coverage. The hourly rate for this position is $27.19 per hour with a pay increase after one year.  

Principle Duties & Responsibilities:
Survey all or part of City projects.
Perform data entry and maintain technical records within databases, spreadsheets and maps.
Prepare cost estimates.
May train and supervise the Survey technical staff in a team environment.
Inspect projects for compliance to engineering specifications.
Perform other engineering testing, such as obtaining and preparing water samples and conducting standard gravel field tests.
Assist in drafting duties to accommodate staff shortages or work load requirements.
Perform project supervision on subdivision, capital works, and maintenance and utility projects.
Process field data to create working drawings, digital terrain and contour models, and subdivision layouts for use in municipal construction, using a networked personal computer and a variety of CADD (Computer Assisted Design and Drafting) software.
Develop and maintain geographical information system, engineering databases and digital maps using GIS software.
Printing and scanning of maps, construction drawings and electronically stored drawings.  

Required Qualifications:
Completion of a Diploma (two year program) in Engineering Technology from a recognized Technical Institute.
Certification or eligibility for certification, as an Applied Science Technologist with the Saskatchewan Applied Science Technologists and Technicians.
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
