Description

This position will perform the following duties:
-    Produce semi-monthly payrolls
-    Ensure all pay is calculated and in compliance with Labour Standards, Income Tax Act, Employment Insurance Act, Canada Pension Plan and successive legislation
-    Maintain the payroll system including the integrity of the data
-    Review system Cost reports, making corrections prior to requesting Labour and Equipment Summary Reports and Input Reports
-    Maintain system records relating to sick leave, annual holidays, statutory holidays, WCB, etc.
-    Journalize payroll and payroll account transfer for each payment produced
-    Prepare EI Record of Employment forms, calculate and remit LTD and group life benefits and prepare annual T4 and T4A supplementaries and the related T4 summary annual return
-    Maintain all accounting records and day-to-day administrative requirements relative to employee payroll deductions

Qualified applicants will possess:
-    2 year Diploma in an accounting program
-    2 years related experience in the functions of payroll within a large organization
-    Demonstrated knowledge of computer software packages (spreadsheets and word processing) and ability to be trained on specialized application software (CanPay, JD Edwards)
-    Demonstrated proficiency in data entry and word processing (8000 kph) and calculator skills
-    Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
-    Ability to organize and conclude work assignments in an efficient and orderly fashion with minimum supervision
