The Engineering Assistant will report directly to and support the Director of Engineering in meeting the obligations and responsibilities of the City of Weyburn for the operation, maintenance, expansion, replacement and approval of all infrastructure and activities affecting the Airport, the Solid Waste Management Facility, the Public Works and Parks departments, the Water Treatment Plant and Land Development.
The Engineering Assistant will:
- collect information and analyze data;
- assist in investigations and studies;
- assist in developing and recommending solutions for identified needs and problems;
- assist in preparing reports for submission to Regulatory Authorities in accordance with Permit requirements;
- assist in preparing designs and contracts for operation/maintenance/replacement/expansion of City assets;
- assist in preparing and managing Tenders;
- conduct field inspections and provide supervision on construction contracts and internal crews;
- identify needs and initiatives to keep the City assets sustainable and in good condition;
- assist in the maintenance of the City?s as-built records;
- assist in the maintenance of the City?s Asset Management System;
- review Land Development proposals for compliance with City standards and policies;
- conduct field surveys using total station or automatic level;
- participate and assist in implementing and completing initiatives of the City of Weyburn;
- act as a representative of the City with consultants, contractors, government agencies and outside agencies/groups;
Knowledge and Specific Training:
- Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering or a three year Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology;
- Eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Saskatchewan or registration as an A.Sc.T. or C.Tech in the Province of Saskatchewan;
- Excellent verbal and written communication;
- Competent in AutoDesk Civil 3D;
- Proficient in MS Office; collaborative;
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence.
