Summer Student Job Summer Student Job

Description

The Saskatoon Trades and Skills Centre (STSC) offers young adults short skills courses designed to enable them to enter the labour market. STSC is looking for a summer student (9-week term) to assist with student and administrative support.

Requirements:
- Must be a post-secondary student in a related field such as Social Sciences or Education.     -Must be returning to school in the fall.
- Clear Criminal Record Check
- Valid Driver's License
- Must be legally able to work in Canada
- Must be between the ages of 15-30
- Full time Start date: July 2, 2018  - August 31,2018 (flexible)

Duties:
- Advertise and promote training programs (hand out brochures, etc)
- Liaise with employer and community partners
- Student support services and job search support
- Participate in student selection
- Assist with arranging and supervising work placements
- Follow up with previous students
- Provide transportation for students
- Run errands
- Maintain computer records; data entry
- Filing system improvement, organizing inventory, and other administrative duties
- Perform all other duties in accord with the vision and mandate of STSC as directed by the Program Manager or Executive Director

Skills & Abilities:

- Experience in working with a diverse client group including vulnerable individuals is an asset
- Sensitivity to a wide range of cultures
- Knowledge of indigenous cultures is an asset
- Able to work independently or as part of a team
- Familiarity with trades and apprenticeship opportunities in Saskatchewan is an asset
- Ability to prioritize and multitask
- Computer skills in Microsoft Suite
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to occasionally work flexible hours to meet student needs
