Description

This position is responsible for:  
-    The planning, design, construction and maintenance of recreation facilities, parks, including sports grounds, playgrounds, green spaces, cemeteries and designated City-owned buildings
-    Assisting with the development and monitoring of department operating, equipment and capital budgets

Reporting to the Director of Parks and Recreation, this position will perform the following duties:  
-    Developing policies related to parks, cemeteries and facilities
-    Supervising and training subordinate recreation personnel
-    Drafting required reports
-    Recommending and implementing the acquisition and purchase of equipment, machinery, supplies and materials based on approved budgets
-    Liaising with developers to ensure that projects are completed
-    Developing and managing an ongoing program to ensure the safety of staff and public
-    Participating in committee and Council meetings as required

Qualified candidates will have education and experience obtained through a Degree in Recreation Administration  Business of Facility Management and five years' progressively responsible experience in a senior supervisory position in the maintenance of recreation facilities and/or parks. Additionally, preferred candidates will possess:
-    Valid Class 5 driver's license
-    Extensive knowledge and demonstrated ability in parks practices
-    Horticultural education or experience would be an asset
-    Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
