Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist
Regina Head Office
Permanent Appointment

The Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist participates as a member of a case management team and is involved in the management of individual cases. You will provide information; assistance and counseling to clients returning to the labour force by helping the client develop a vocational rehabilitation plan. This will include guiding the client through upgrading, retraining and job search strategies and negotiating employment placements.  You have the following skills:

    Problem solving
    Customer service
    Interpersonal and program planning
    Listening and communication, and
    The ability to work well on teams and/or independently with minimal supervision when required.

Required qualifications include a university degree in Psychology, Sociology, Social Work or a health related field such as Nursing, Kinesiology, or Occupational Therapy and three years of experience counseling persons who have a disability or disadvantage.  This position is a field position and requires that you have a valid class 5 drivers license and you are able to travel.

Education must include classes in the following core areas:

    Assessment approaches
    Disabling conditions and/or disadvantaged groups
    Intervention and strategies
    History and systems related to human services
    Professional ethics
    Communication and interviewing skills

Candidates must hold or be eligible for the Certified Vocational Professional (CVP), Registered Rehabilitation Professional (RRP) or the Certified Canadian Rehabilitation Counsellor (CCRC) designation.
