The Moose Jaw Multicultural Council is looking for a dynamic full-time LINC (Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada) Instructor.
The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching 1 full-time or 2 part-time LINC class, lesson planning, maintaining records and ensuring attendance, ongoing assessment, creating and maintaining student portfolios (administer PBLA in the classroom) and preparing/submitting monthly/quarterly reports.
QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:
-TESL Canada Professional Certificate Standard 1 Permanent (interim will be considered) or acceptable/transferable certification and other relevant education and combined experience may also be considered.
-A member in good standing or the ability to obtain immediate membership to TESL Saskatchewan
-Experience teaching/working with English as a Second Language to adult newcomers
-In depth understanding of and experience using the Canadian Language Benchmarks and the LINC Curriculum Guidelines
-Experience and knowledge of PBLA (portfolio based language assessment)
-Ability to adapt teaching methodology to the needs/skill levels of individual learners.
-Experience working with multi-levels classrooms
-Excellent English communication and interpersonal skills.
-Demonstrated sensitivity to the needs of adult immigrants and refugees.
-Ability to work independently with excellent organizational and time management skills.
-Ability to obtain a criminal record and vulnerable sector check
