Description

Term under 9 months

The Ministry of Social Services, Child and Family Programs, requires a Child Protection Worker to provide services under the Authority of The Child and Family Services Act and The Adoption Act. You will provide a range of services designed to provide protective, preventative and support services to children and their families using The Family Centered Case Management Model of practice.

This unique team of Child Protection staff will be working as a mobile unit, headquartered in Saskatoon, but working daily in the Northern Region of Saskatchewan.  Travel and overnight stays will be required in the communities of Nipawin, La Loche, Prince Albert, Melfort, North Battleford, Creighton, Lloydminster, Buffalo Narrows and Meadow Lake. Travel to smaller communities in the Northern region would also be assigned as necessary.

In this position, you will be responsible for investigating allegations of neglect, physical or sexual abuse, and assessing family functioning, determining risk factors to the children's safety, implementing intervention plans and providing support services to the family, as required.

To qualify for this position you will possess a Bachelor of Social Work, Bachelor of Indian Social Work, or an equivalent Social Work degree from an accredited university as approved by the SASW/CASW or CASWE. The successful candidate will be legally eligible to operate a vehicle, required to travel, work flexible hours in the evening and on weekends, and transport children (and parents) in service delivery.
  
This position will be headquartered in Saskatoon, and will include compensation for travel time, mileage allowances or transportation provided, meals and accommodations as required.
