Description

The Tisdale Recorder has an immediate opening for a dynamic and enthusiastic reporter. The Recorder provides local news to the citizens of northeastern Saskatchewan.

You would be based in Tisdale, a town of 3,500. You will also cover Melfort, a city of 6,000 an half-hour west of Tisdale; Nipawin, a town of 4,500 thats 45 minutes north; and other communities within a 100 kilometre radius of Tisdale.

Tisdale has a hockey arena, curling rink, golf course, walking trails, performing arts theatre and outdoor pool. Within an hours drive theres a ski hill, forests and world-class fishing lakes.

You will be responsible covering local news and politics, community and sports events, and anything else thats newsworthy in our communities. This variety provides a great chance to hone your journalism skills.

The successful candidate will:
Write and edit an average of 8-12 stories for print on a weekly basis.
  Take photos that are eye-catching, clear and engaging.
  Generate interesting stories and feature ideas.

Qualifications
A journalism degree, diploma or equivalent experience.
Knowledge of CP style.
Must have your own DSLR camera and knowledge of its functions
  Must be willing and able to work independently and as part of a team.
  A reliable car and a valid drivers licence are essential.
Weekend and evening shifts are required as part of this position.

Wed consider these qualities assets:
Knowledge of digital technologies and experience with video.
  An interest in agricultural reporting.
