Description

The Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority is seeking a permanent full-time Product Buyer.  
Reporting to the Manager, Purchasing & Logistics, the Product Buyer is responsible for evaluating inventory requirements of all categories of beverage alcohol for the province of Saskatchewan, issuing purchase orders to suppliers and arranging for the timely delivery of ordered product to the SLGA Distribution Centre (DC). The annual volume of inventory moving through the DC exceeds two and a half million cases. Product is ordered both domestically and internationally. The timing and quantity of product orders typically requires an ability to accurately forecast demand, consolidate purchase orders from multiple source points and optimize global logistics in getting product to Saskatchewan.
Required Technical/Qualifications
- A Bachelors degree in Business Administration/Commerce, or equivalent, from a recognized Post-Secondary educational institution, OR a Certified Supply Chain Management Professional designation or equivalent from a recognized supply chain management association, OR a minimum of 3 years experience in a product-based demand planning role for a Supply Chain division.
- In-depth knowledge of supply chain end-to-end processes and risk mitigation.
- Knowledge of applicable acts, regulations, policies and procedures pertaining to liquor retailing or knowledge of the Alcohol and Gaming Regulation Act and Alcohol Control Regulations pertaining to the legal sale of beverage alcohol is preferred.
- Knowledge of beverage alcohol products and the beverage alcohol industry is preferred.
- Ability to monitor, assess and evaluate statistical information to accurately forecast future demand of beverage alcohol.
- Attention to detail with a strong customer service focus.
- Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with the SLGA Customer Care team and retail store permittees.
