Fast Genetics is currently seeking a highly motivated person to fill a permanent full-time position as a Flow Cytometric Sorting Technician at our sorting lab located at our H&M barn in Spiritwood, Saskatchewan.
This position will include the following responsibilities and day-to-day functions but is not limited to:
-Efficiently sorting semen on a flow sorter to meet sperm sorting production requirements,
-Assisting with administering the low dose AI program,
-Implementing and overseeing field trials,
-Conducting data analysis and data entry,
-Maintaining communication between research team and field breeding crews,
-Using an transrectal ultrasound for characterization of ovarian status,
-Conducting good housekeeping needs in the sorting lab,
-Analyzing and interpreting basic sperm motion and morphology characteristics,
-Performing other general farm duties as required.
The successful candidate would ideally possess the following qualifications and experiences:
-Outstanding organizational skills and demonstrates attention to detail while meeting deadlines,
-Able to manage priorities and solve problems in a fast-paced environment,
-Excellent written and oral communication skills,
-Demonstrate a high level of professionalism and confidentiality with company related matters,
-Willingness to work morning and/or evening shifts,
-Capable of working as a member of a high performing team,
-Previous AI breeding experience,
-Previous lab experience,
-Ability to analyze and interpret boar semen evaluations,
-Experience with Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint),
