The Youth First Responder Coordinator is responsible for planning and facilitating programs and experiences for a week-long First Responder Boot Camp participants in the summer of 2018. The Coordinator will be employed by the Sask. Mining Association and work in collaboration with the Saskatoon Tribal Council, on a project to increase awareness of the diversity of safety/first responder occupations in the mining sector.
Core programming will include Emergency First Aid, WHIMIS, Youth Worker Readiness Certificate, Fire training, General Safety Awareness, Accident Investigation Skills, Search and Rescue Technique, Fitness Testing, sites visits to Emergency Responder Facilities and Guest Speakers on First Responder Career Opportunities.
Essential Responsibilities:
Identify and liaise with camp facilitators,
Organize logistics for the week-long camp
Build a culture of safety awareness and team environment amongst camp participants.
Ability to manage program budget
Prepare a written report(s) on the Youth First Responder Boot Camp
Other tasks as assigned.
Essential Qualifications:
First Aid certification
Education classes or work experience in camp or youth programs,
Ability to work independently and as a team
Superior time management, organizational and communication skills
Ability to lift, move and transfer equipment and supplies weighing 20 kilograms
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Social Media (facebook, twitter)
Valid Class 5 SK drivers license
Must possess or be in the process of obtaining Police Reference Check

Access to a vehicle
