Duties and Responsibilities
Nurture, support and guide young learners
Prepare engaging lessons and interactive learning activities/materials
Conduct formal and informal assessment of students
Incorporate appropriate technology and media in lesson planning
Facilitate learning activities both within the classroom setting and outdoors
Promote and maintain high standards of behaviour, respect and safety within the classroom
Support families with open, ongoing communication
Prepare course timelines and materials
Prepare lesson plans with clear objectives that follow SK curriculum standards
Use information in Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to strategically adapt instructional materials
Work collaboratively with specialist and homeroom teachers to support the development of integrated lessons and units
Maintain appropriate standards of behavior, mutual respect, and safety within classroom
Uphold TSECs Code of Conduct, provide appropriate consequences and contact homeroom teachers/parents when required
Be available to students outside of class time
Position Qualifications:
Possess or be in application of a valid SK Teaching Certificate
Possess a Bachelors degree or higher qualification in education
Understands and uses current literacy practices and teaching strategies
Models a strong work ethic as well as high standards of commitment
Must have an awareness and appreciation of Native culture
