Unique Contract Interiors is a family owned commercial furniture manufacturing company based out of Saskatoon, SK. The main types of furniture that we manufacture is restaurant booth seating but we also handle other custom upholstery items such as some residential pieces, wall panels, and commercial hospitality soft seating. We are looking for a hard working, detail oriented, and experienced person who can both sew and upholster. Other specific job duties are below:
Must have experience & knowledge with commercial sewing and upholstery.
Ability to operate commercial sewing machines, double stitch machines, and surgers.
Must be able to create patterns and understand sewing allowances to make pieces fit properly.
Must be physically fit to upholster and lift rolls of materials (vinyl, fabric, leather).
Read a tape measure and calculate yardage requirements.
Handle different styles of sewing & upholstery (i.e. diamond tufting, square tufting, channel backs)
Must be able to do a wide range of upholstery (i.e. restaurant booth backs, seats, and borders. Also some residential if required such as sofa's, chairs, and other custom work).
Be able to stand or sit for periods of time.
Some prepping of the furniture is required too. Things like attaching foam, cardboard, etc. before upholstery takes place.
Must bring a good attitude to the work place and be able to work alone or with others.
Be able to understand drawings, layouts, and visible furniture pieces to know how they can be fixed or upholstered is crucial.
