Description

Who we are
We are a small organic bakery cafe in Saskatoon, SK. We source organic grain and stone mill flour on site. Our breads are primarily wholegrain, well hydrated and sourdough. Breads are baked in a wood fired oven. We care about making real and good food. Our retail space offers fresh breads, rustic french pastries, good coffee, plus simple food options.

The Job
We are looking for a motivated bread baker to join our small production team. You will be responsible for daily bread production, plus help with pastry/etc as needed. Reports to the bakery manager.

Responsibilities and Competencies
Workflow assessment and planning for the bread program.
Mixing, scaling, shaping, and baking a variety of breads
Cleaning, monitoring, maintaining, and baking with a wood fired oven
Ability to work at a pace that production requires
General knowledge of production methods and organization of bread production schedule
Ability to demonstrate proper techniques to new bakers as needed  
General knowledge and understanding of bakers' math and fermentation
Scaling and set up of daily and weekly production and ingredients
Able to maintain a clean and organized workspace
Must have strong time management, communication and organization skills.

Minimum Requirements
Experience mixing, shaping and baking sourdough bread
Interest and/or knowledge of wood fired ovens
Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed and accuracy
Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude
Current Food Safe certificate

Physical Demands and Hours
Standing for the majority of the work day
Lifting up to 50 pounds
Lifting and moving 40 pound tubs of dough
Shifts are usually 8 hours, start at 4am, at times earlier. We are closed Sundays.

Preferred experience
2+ years in a professional kitchen working with dough. Ideally familiar with professional bread production.
