Description

This posting is for a seasonal position, to start immediately, answering to the Director of Public Works & Utilities. Valid class 5 driver's license, driver's abstract and criminal record check is required. Any offer of employment will be conditional on receiving satisfactory pre-employment checks, including medical checks and references. WHMIS, CPR, First Aid, Confined Space Entry and experience operating equipment an asset.

Duties include but are not limited to:  
-Manual handling and carrying of supplies/items weighing 40 lbs or more, significant amounts of standing, walking and bending, can also include long periods sitting operating equipment.
-Maintain an updated record/log of all tools, equipment, and materials used in/by the Town and to ensure all machinery and equipment is kept in good working condition.
-Promote good public relations with other Town of Wadena staff members and the general public.
-Support the Parks & Recreation Department and Administration as may be required.
-Pothole repair, equipment operating and maintenance, etc.

Qualifications
1.Valid driver's license (driver's abstract will be required), a great work ethic and good public relations skills.
2.Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position.
3.Previous experience in road repair, maintenance, water and wastewater treatment and distribution is an asset.
4.Previous experience with operating, servicing and repairing machinery and equipment also an asset.
5.Demonstrated ability to follow approved policies and procedures.
6. Class 5A driver's license not required, but an asset.
7.Ability to work with minimal supervision.
8.Decision-making and critical thinking skills.
9.Available to work flexible and varying hours of work, as well as some on-call hours, as may be required.
10.Consent for disclosure of Criminal Record Information and Provincial Child Abuse Registry Access Application.
