Contango is growing our water treatment services and we are interested in hearing from skilled, enthusiastic, and innovative professionals to join our consulting team. The position is full-time, preferably based in Saskatoon (with option to be based in Vancouver, Toronto, or Whitehorse - note your preference in your cover letter). The successful candidate will focus on microbiology data analysis and interpretation for mining-related water treatment systems with our consulting team. Examples of biological water treatment systems include bioreactors, constructed treatment wetlands, in pit treatment, and in situ mine pool treatment. Contango has microbiology laboratories, in house DNA sequencing and data processing, and biological mine water treatment pilot-scale testing facilities. This position is desk-based, designing experiments for teams of technologists, and interpreting and communicating resultant data.
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS
Clearly outline in your cover letter experience with these aspects and note any involvement with biological water treatment systems.
Statistical analysis and interpretation of microbiology data (e.g., NGS, qPCR) in the context of environmental metadata (e.g., water or soil chemistry, physicochemical conditions) to address project-related needs.
Application of metal and metalloid redox transformation knowledge base to water quality predictions and/or water treatment processes.
Performing applied calculations related to biogeochemical processes for metals, metalloids, and nutrients, such as: nitrification, denitrification, anammox, and selenium, uranium, sulphur, and iron cycling.
Proven ability to select appropriate microbiological carbon sources for targeted treatment pathways, including understanding of breakdown and by-products from carbon sources.
