Description

David Aplin Group, one of Canada's Best Managed Companies, has partnered with our client to assist them in recruiting a Senior Life Insurance Underwriter based in Saskatoon.

The Role:

-Review and assess medical, financial and personal information for individual life insurance applications to determine insurability of new applicants, reinstatements and applications for change
-Achieve effective and efficient attainment of required insurance amounts for clients
-Attain a comprehensive understanding of target insurance amounts required for each client and effectively communicate and represent reasoning to insurance companies
-Proactively identify obstacles to achieving target amounts with insurance companies  and work to create alternative solutions
-Escalate application issues with the Account Service Managers and other key stake holders and provide updates regarding underwriting status,  policy offers,  policy declines, policy placement deadlines and premium payment deadlines
-Coordinate with key stakeholders to ensure financing arrangements are in place  
-Manage insurance company relationships and ensure the clients interests are firmly and professionally represented
-Maintain up to date client profiles

The Ideal Candidate:

-5 + years of progressive experience in life insurance underwriting
-Completion of a university degree in life sciences, nursing or kinesiology
-Strong working knowledge of individual life insurance and health underwriting
-Comprehensive knowledge of medical and financial terminology
-Ability to be decisive and show consistently good judgement
-Self-motivated and self-disciplined
-Strong written and verbal communication skills
-Strong analytical and problem resolution skills
-Competency with Microsoft Office Suite
