Description

The Director of Finance & Administration contributes to the overall success of the organization by effectively managing financial and administration tasks for the organization. Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Director of Finance and Administration develops, plans, and directs the management of the financial and administration affairs of the Council:
Develops a management team capable of critical thinking, strong employee relations, and effective teamwork
Entrusts managers with responsibility for employee screening and selection, orientation training and development, performance management, and other employee functions
Possesses a strong working knowledge, experience and roots in Metis and Indigenous culture, values spirituality and community life
Proficiency in the use of accounting software, such as Sage, Quickbooks, etc.  
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office programs for; accounting, word processing, database management, spreadsheets, email and internet  
Monitoring, developing and maintaining  the financial structure of the Council
Planning, developing and directing the submission of the Councils fiscal budgets in coordination with the Regional Directors
Oversee the Management of all leases, contracts and other financial commitments
Oversee and supervise the administrative function of the organization including reception, property/facility management, safety of the work environment and provision of furnishings and equipment necessary for effective operations
Monitor all legislation relevant to the organization (employment standards, occupation health and safety, human rights, etc.) and all regulations on professional certification to ensure that the organization is compliant     by securing adequate equipment and office technologies to lessen staff overload to increase efficiency
Minimizing administrative costs whenever possible but ensuring consistent quality
Assisting in the hiring of competent staff
