Redvers SARCAN is seeking applications for a Casual Recycling Technician.

The Recycling Technician provides customer service by counting containers for deposit refund, receiving non-legislated materials and may operate the point of sale system or till.  Also prepares containers and non-legislated materials for shipping and loads product onto trailers for transport.  Performs tasks as required for the upkeep of the depot.

Essential Job Functions:
- Receives customer containers and non-legislated materials and counts and records orders for deposit refunds
- Prepares containers and non-legislated materials for shipping, which may include sorting, crushing, packaging and palletizing materials by type and size and colour
- Loads and unloads trailers by hand or may use depot equipment (e.g. pallet jack, electric pallet jack, forklift, etc.)
- Attends training and workshops as required
- Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:
- Basic reading, writing and numeracy skills are required
- Related experience would be an asset
- Requires the ability to follow instructions and focus on own work
- Requires the ability to concentrate when counting and recording customer containers
- Requires the ability to focus on tasks to ensure they are performed in the right sequence
- Ability to deal with customer inquiries in a courteous and professional manner
- Must provide a satisfactory criminal record check as a condition of employment
- Must be committed to team work and meeting team goals

Working Conditions:
- Works on the depot floor most of the time, performing repetitive tasks in a staionary position
- Bending, climbing, stretching, lifting and toting are required from time to time
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
