Description

The CAD Operator is responsible for the completion of tank trailer designs from concept to production using Autodesk Inventor and Vault.  This person interprets customer driven specifications to arrive at a design and produce the working drawings for fabrication, must research and apply Canadian and US motor vehicle safety standards, weight laws & ASME codes relating to transportation of dangerous goods. They will review plans and confer with internal stakeholders to meet project specifications, complete documentation packages and produce drawing sets.

Responsibilities:
    Primarily utilizing Inventor, design and prepare detailed electronic (CAD) working plans, charts and/or scale drawings for tank truck and trailer projects from observation, measurements, sketches and specifications.
    Produce detailed and final drawings using dedicated computer software (CAD) including parts lists.
    Revise computer-aided designs and plans to comply with in-process change orders.
    Brainstorm as part of a team or developing design concepts using CAD and other traditional design tools.
    Provide technical guidance and direction in the interpretation and implementation of specifications and requirements related to the use of CAD files.

Qualifications:
    Technical/Applied Science Diploma or degree in mechanical or industrial engineering or post-secondary diploma or certification in a related field preferred.
    Proficiency in using Autodesk Inventor and Vault.
    Thorough working knowledge of the concepts and benefits of 3D modeling.    
    Worked in a fabrication or production environment that has undergone the transition to 3D preferred.
