Job Description: THE CLINICAL ASSIGNMENT AT SASKATOON CITY HOSPITAL FOR THIS POSITION IS CURRENTLY UNDER REVIEW.  THE SOCIAL WORKER WILL USE PROFESSIONAL SKILLS TO ASSESS AND PROVIDE INTERVENTIONS AIMED AT ASSISTING CLIENTS AND FAMILIES COPE WITH HEALTH-RELATED ISSUES.  THE INCUMBENT WILL HAVE MASTERY OF THE INSTRUMENTAL ISSUES ASSOCIATED WITH THE HEALTH CRISIS AND BE ABLE TO INCORPORATE THESE INTO COUNSELLING REGARDING EMOTIONAL ISSUES.  THE INCUMBENT WILL SHARE SOCIAL WORK RESPONSIBILITIES IN THE DEPARTMENT INCLUDING COVERAGE FOR HOLIDAYS AND SICK LEAVE, AS WELL MAY INCLUDE WEEKEND STANDBY ROTATION IF REQUIRED.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor Degree in Social Work
Registered or eligible for registration with the Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers (SASW)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
Knowledge of the health region and community resources
Other Information

Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement.  HSAS seniority within the Saskatchewan Health Authority will be considered under the Selection Criteria.

ABILITY TO ADVOCATE ON BEHALF OF CLIENTS.  SKILLED IN PSYCHO-SOCIAL ASSESSMENT, WITH THE ABILITY TO WORK WITH INDIVIDUALS, CAREGIVERS AND EXTENDED FAMILY MEMBERS.  PREFERENCE WILL BE GIVEN TO A SOCIAL WORKER WITH MEDICAL SOCIAL WORK EXPERIENCE.
