POSITION OVERVIEW: Tron requires a motivated and career-minded Estimator who has experience working in either the mechanical and/or the electrical trades. The position requires attention to detail, problem solving, excellent organizational skills and the ability to plan a construction job. This is a contract-based role with the possibility of becoming permanent.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Assist in the preparation of cost estimates for industrial and light industrial projects.
Prepare material, labour and equipment cost estimates according to the scope of work, drawings and specifications.
Be able to apply safety and quality standards for each job.
Ensure requests for quotes are submitted on time.
Flexibility to travel to job sites as needed.
Be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Perform problem solving quickly and concisely.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
3 - 5 years of varying industrial field experience in the mechanical or electrical trade is required.
Either an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) designation or P.Eng designation is required.
Mathematical skills and analytical skills are necessary to do the estimates and to interpret cost reports.
Effective verbal and listening communications skills and a strong management of time are required.
Ability to work in an office environment is required.
Computer skills are essential.
Familiarity with software estimating packages is considered a benefit. Experience with Hard Dollar software is considered a strong asset.
