Description

The successful candidate will join the Economic Development Team & will provide direct services to the MLFN  members in a client centered approach, conduct assessment & counselling of clients, social assistance recipients, & employment insurance clients to develop a plan of action which will help them attain their employment & training goals. The BETO must be sensitive to cultural differences, disabilities & financial barriers. The BETO will work with clients in the Pre-Employment & Training Program

Duties:

Explain program criteria & eligibility to clients about a wide variety of employment, training & income support programs
Conduct individual & group career planning to determine appropriate education; training & employment goals, which may include integrated case management
Conduct workshops (ex. programs & services information, job search, resume, Labour market information)
Develop & deliver workshops with individuals & groups, & participate in job fair or career development
Develop materials & instruct groups in a variety of pre-employment programs, with MLTC Employment Readiness/life skills delivered programming.
Assist trained & skilled clients to access employment

Qualifications:

Relevant post-secondary training in Business Admin, Commerce, Education, or equivalent
Background/experience working with First Nations administration with an understanding of community development processes
Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively assist with clientele interviews, meetings, etc.
Excellent report writing skills with demonstrated ability in research, written communication, & computer data processing
Creative, innovative, organized, dependable, & able to work independently or on a team
Work with clients in a respectful & understanding manner to develop effective working relationships
Proficient with computers MS Office 2010, Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, etc
Understanding of Cree/Dene an asset
Ability to travel and have a valid driver's license
