Description

Working in collaboration with a team, the Confident Learners Facilitator contributes to the planning, design, creation/adaptation, and delivery of high quality integrated early literacy and numeracy strategies to enhance the positive learning outcomes for children in Alliance on reserve schools.

QUALIFICATIONS:
    A Masters of Education Degree with a focus on Early Literacy or Curriculum and Instruction is preferred, but other related and relevant combinations of education and experience will be considered.
    A valid Professional A Saskatchewan Teachers Certificate
    Early years classroom experience (Kindergarten to Grade 3)
    Knowledge of best practices in Indigenous/First Nations education, federal education systems and Inherent and Treaty Rights to Education.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Develops effective strategies to build deeper understanding of T4EA program mandate and goals with/for a variety of audiences and stakeholders while focusing specifically on early years learners, and their families and enhancing teacher capacity for early literacy (and numeracy) instruction and assessment.
    Skilled facilitator, designing and delivering engaging lessons, planning and instructional strategies that emphasize best practices in literacy, with specific emphasis on First Nations approaches.
    Possesses a strong understanding of balanced literacy programs, including best practices in early literacy instruction and assessment from around the world, especially those that relate to First Nations learners (knowledge of Confident Learners will be a focus)
    Is highly effective in selecting appropriate quality early literacy (and numeracy) resources, educational software and materials and models effective stewardship of resources and materials, and adheres to and communicates copyright as well as other laws and guidelines pertaining to the distribution and ethical use of all resources.
