Job Description: REPORTING TO THE DIRECTOR OF NURSING, THE PATIENT CARE SUPERVISOR WILL: PROVIDE ASSESSMENT AND CARE OF PATIENTS IN THE OUTPATIENT/EMERGENCY, CORONARY CARE AND GENERAL MEDICINE, POST-OPERATIVE AND OBSTETRICAL SETTING. THIS INCLUDES ACCOUNTABILITY FOR DECISION MAKING RE: PLACEMENT AND MOVEMENT OF PATIENTS AND RESOURCES WITHIN THE FACILITY. ASSESSES STAFFING NEEDS AND REASSIGNS STAFF AS NECESSARY AFTER HOURS. FUNCTIONS AS THE MANAGEMENT REPRESENTATIVE WITH RESPECT TO CLINICAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE PROBLEM SOLVING AFTER HOURS. DIRECTS NURSING STAFF AND ASSISTS IN THE PROVISION OF PATIENT CARE AS NEEDED. INTERACTS WITH PATIENTS, FAMILIES, NURSES, PHYSICIANS AND OTHER HEALTH CARE STAFF. IMPLEMENTS AND ENFORCES POLICIES AND PROCEDURES.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor Degree/Diploma in Nursing
Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor Certificate
Registered or eligible for registration with the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses Association (SRNA)
Experience
5 YEARS RECENT CLINICAL NURSING EXPERIENCE IN AN ACUTE CARE SETTING REQUIRED.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Advanced communication skills
Advanced problem solving skills
Ability to adapt to changing conditions

NOTE: This is a Provincial Posting and is open to all SUN members within the bargaining unit as per Articles 27.02 and 27.05 of the SUN Collective Bargaining Agreement. First preference will be given to employees of the SKHA (Saskatoon) and its affiliated agencies.
