The Saskatoon Downtown Youth Centre Inc.  EGADZ has an exciting opportunity for a Permanent Full Time Teen Parent Coordinator interested in joining the team. EGADZ is an inter-agency, non-profit organization whose purpose is to provide services for hard to serve youth in Saskatoon with the mission to encourage and support them to make choices that improve their quality of life.
The purpose of the Teen Parent Coordinator position is to follow the Mission of the Saskatoon Downtown Youth Centre Inc./EGADZ and CAPC contractual obligations while providing positive supports and advocacy for marginalized Teen Parents, who would not typically access traditional resources and supports due to their present circumstances.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan, organize and Facilitate groups sessions
Build and maintain relationships while providing informational counseling in support of Teen Parents
Advocates for Teen Parents, provide community support and resources for clients
Has basic knowledge on topics of birth control, labor/delivery and parenting
Communicates, understands and has knowledge on how to deal with marginalized teen parents in special circumstances (e.g. poverty, foster care, neglect)
Has an understanding and knowledge of Aboriginal history and current issues which effect the Aboriginal youth today. (Most of our youth are of Aboriginal ancestry)
Assist the parents in accessing appropriate services such as medical appointments, education, justice, social services, formal counseling, addictions services, emergency housing
Assist the parents to access the activities and interests by identifying barriers and finding ways to address them
Other duties as assigned    
        
Qualifications:
Post-secondary education in the human services field, equivalent experience or a combination of both;
Training in CPR and ASIST training is an Asset
Must have a valid drivers and willing to provide a Criminal Records Check (Within 6 Months)
