Description

Summary of Duties:
Reporting to the Director, Employee Relations the Manager, Occupational Health and Safety is responsible for developing, leading, managing and achieving the strategic occupational health and safety objectives of Evraz Place in accordance with recognized best practices and established legislation and contracts.  This position is a member of Evraz Places management team and works collaboratively with executive management, management, supervisors and staff to ensure an effective health and safety internal responsibility system is fully integrated and adopted throughout the organization.  As a member of the HR Management Team, the Manager, Occupational Health & Safety participates in the planning of corporate HR programs, policies and processes, and acts as a champion of these programs, policies and processes when implementing them within the organization.

Education and Experience:
    Bachelors degree in Business, or a related field, or a combination of relevant education, training and experience
    Successful completion of the Certified Health & Safety Consultants (CHSC) or Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation.
    Minimum of 5 years experience planning, developing, implementing and managing Health and Safety Management Systems.
    Demonstrated experience in successfully building, coaching, and motivating high performing teams while holding others accountable where there is no direct authority
    Experience in resolving employee issues/complaints as well as overall excellent client service is required;
    Experience in managing budgets and scheduling of staff.
    Experience working in a unionized environment is required.
