Description

The Town of Lumsden is accepting applications for the position of Water/Wastewater Operator. Qualifications:
Post secondary education in a related field.
Valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Drivers License is required as well as RCMP Security Clearance

Preference Will Be Given To Applicants With:
Class 2 Water Distribution and Treatment Certification
Class 3 Wastewater Treatment and Collection Certificate
*In absence of Certification, the ability to attain Certification, within a reasonable time frame is a requirement of employment
Diploma of Water Resources Engineering Technologist
Certificate in Water and Wastewater Technician
Experience operating heavy equipment (grader, backhoe, skid steer) and pump maintenance

This position works as a Utilities Operator under the direction of the Utilities Foreman.  The position assists in the daily operation and maintenance of the water and wastewater works.  Other public works duties not related to the utility operation may be required from time to time.
The Town of Lumsden is currently in the process of building a new SBR Wastewater facility.  The successful applicant will have the opportunity to learn and grow professionally operating a state-of-the-art wastewater facility.

Salary range for this position is based on experience and qualifications. Health, dental, vision and pension benefits are provided.  Hours of work are 7:004:00 (40 hours paid per week) with a 30 minute unpaid lunch break plus 30 minutes banked toward one Earned Day Off every three weeks.  You can expect to provide weekend on-call coverage once every 6-7 weeks.

 - Operate and monitor computerized control systems and related equipment to regulate the flow of sewage and to treat and dispose of sewage and wastes
 - Monitor and inspect plant equipment and systems to detect equipment malfunctioning and to ensure plant systems are operating normally
 - Monitor and read recording instruments to detect equipment malfunctions and ensure plant systems and equipment are operating within prescribed limits
 - Complete and maintain plant logs and reports
 - Collect waste and sewage samples, test and analyze results
 - Collect and test water samples for chemical and bacterial content
 - Analyze test results and instrument readings
